Hi Guys,
Where do you guys typically come up with your replacement parts for your older Cadillacs?  I referring to parts like distributer points and caps, plug wires, voltage regulators, starter solenoids, correct battery cables?
The only catalog place Im aware of is Kanter, but as far as I know they dont have some of the smaller parts like that.
So, where do you guys shop?
Thanks,
Eric

Jerry

Depends - - what era vehicle do you own?
1940s 1950s 1960s 1970s?

As already asked:  Whaddya need?  A good place to start is the NAPA stores. Even I am often amazed at the things they sell, and many of us head there first. Recently, I needed a set of rebuild kits for all brake cylinders on one of my 41 Cadillacs. Got em all there. Sometimes they need to special order the things, but they can get a lot of stuff.

In addition to what Doug and Jerry said, it also depends on whether you want a replacement/repair part or a NIB/NOS/NORS part. A local auto parts store has replacement parts. Some junk yards have some good stuff and many are starting to sell online/mail-order. EBay is always an option. As for vendors, Coopers Vintage has a good list of parts, although apparently they (he) doesnt respond to the e-mail listed on the site. You can find some stuff that will interchange at Chevys of the 40s. Wiring stuff can be found at a place like RI Wire. It really depends entirely on what you want. Post a request for something and usually someone can point you to a possible source.

I have a 52 Series 62.
Ill check NAPA and the others mentioned.

Let me give another "vote" for NAPA.  When I recently replaced the belts and hoses on my 85 Eldo, they had them.  The hoses were molded ones, not universal type, which gives an original appearance to the engine compartment.

I have to vote for NAPA first also, then Coopers at .....

You might also try Rock Auto at http://www.rockauto.com TARGET=_blank>www.rockauto.com
or McVeys at ..... http://www.mcveys.com/ TARGET=_blank>http://www.mcveys.com/

Kanter seems to have a lot of stuff but would not necessarily be my first choice.

As the others have said, it depends on just what you need.
