Plane is a Beech D-18s. Military designation C-45. A very high quality light twin used in the 1940s.

Thats one of my all-time favorite Cadillac pics and is in Roy Schnieders "Cadillacs of the Forties". A friend of mine who was a corporate pilot at the time said that it was taken at the Detroit airport.
