engine size in a 1955 coupe ??

and what will fit???for exchanging i have 3     49 engines and 1  58 engine

can any one tell me what size this is in the 55 the 49 block looks 6 inches longer on the back side than the 55 but both bolt in the car the same way??

G'day John,

The '55 uses a 331 Cubic Inch engine, and I believe the engine uses the same mountings up to at least 1960.

I am not sure about the '49 engine, but hopefully someone can advise.   But, I think you would be going backwards putting an earlier engine in.

Plus, I cannot advise what engines will fit your '55 Transmission.

Shorty CLC#20973

The '58 engine most likely doesn't have the hole in the crankshaft for a pilot bushing.  The '55 transmission has a pilot shaft.  Hope this helps.
