Hello Everybody.....

I have a Bicentennial Edition convertible with 1400 original miles on it and while driving this time capsule is a thrill everytime, I'm having trouble getting to the bottom of an issue ........The level ride compressor runs all the time, though  the cycling does slow down quite a lot when standing on level pavement. The system works perfectly well otherwise. I recently installed new shocks and air lines along with a T coupling. The shop manual is not at all specific about what constitutes normal behavior from this unit. Can anyone tell me how much or how often the compressor should be running. Many Thanks

The compressor will run until it gets to about 110 - 130 psi according to the
manual. It will cycle off an on depending on the load you have in the trunk
and passengers in the back.  You can check pressure in the system by
putting an air guage on the schrader fitting on the compressor (looks like a
tire valve -- sits on the top of the compressor unit).

When my '73 sits over the winter, it takes awhile to run and stabilize the
system.  So, don't worry if it runs for awhile after sitting.  However, if the
pump is running fast (you can hear / feel it pumping) and never stops - then
you have a system leak somewhere.  Mike

I would second that the system is operating normally. This is excatly the way the system operates in my '70 Fleetwood and it is in perfect working order.
