Howdy from Texas,  I have a 54 series 62 coupe that was in need of a hood. I found a hood off of a 55 sedan at the local wrecking yard . It was pretty beat up. It fits the car fine but the holes for the V Crest and badges are off a bit. I wanted a nicer hood before the car is painted so I purchased what I thought was a 54 hood from a local dealer. it turns out that it is a slightly different size from the other two hoods . I have been told that it is probably off of a 56.  Can someone tell me how to determine which hood will fit the 54 coupe.

Thanks,

Thanks Lou!   I looked at the pics and it looks as though the last hood I purchased was indeed for a 56. I could tell by  the badge hole configuration. that explains why it did not fit. hopefully the guy I purchased it from will have a decent 54 that I can swap for.  I know now what to look for.  Thanks again.                           Bill

Bill,

The 56 hood is not gonna work for sure. The front lip of the 56 hood is shaped differently when compared to 54,55 hood. Look at the following links to compare pictures
