Can anyone tell me the difference between the 1954 Cadillac manual brakes and the optioned power brakes.(master cylinder size, wheel cylinder size, drum size, etc.) How well did the manual brakes actually perform?....just curious...walt

Hi Walt, I'd need to check the parts book to see if the master cylinder was a different size, but I believe it was one and the same. I ran mine without the Hydrovac for a few months and they operated perfectly well , just a bit more pedal  effort. I think I may have raised the pedal height as specified in the workshop manual.

I checked  1954 brake parts and except for power brake unit related parts there is no difference ,power or non power. For 1955 the master cylinder is different on the power brake, but both are 1" dia.  Warren
