I have an issue with a Cadillac owner friend of mine. I claim that in the 60's, both deVille and Fleetwood Cadillacs had coil spring seats, and only the 62 (Calais) series had conventional zigzag springs. He thinks that only the Fleetwoods had coil spring seats.
Who is correct? Does anyone know the complete story of the use of coil spring seats during the 50's, 60's, and 70's? Thanks.

Gary,

The ’66 Data Book clearly states that 60 Series Fleetwoods use Marshal Coil construction. There is no mention of same for the other models. From my work on an Eldorado, I can say that the seats were standard coil (zig-zag) construction. I believe this is the case from 1963 through 1970.

1961 literature also states that only Fleetwoods have coil springs.
