What is the correct parts number for the rear wheel seals for a 1939 Series 50 La Salle? Is there a source for these? Does the rear axle have to be pulled to install them? Thanks
You don't have to pull the rear end. You have to pull the drums with a puller. Unbolt the backing plates and use a slid hammer to pull out the axle shaft. The bearings then have to be pressed off and on the axles. I purchased mine at either Northwestern Auto Supply 616-241-5611. Or Cadillac Parts Limited 856-753-6788.

Thanks for the additional info.

The seals can be replaced without removing the bearings. Pull the drums, remove the backing plates and the axles come out with the bearings attached. Then replace the seals.
