This a.m. I tried to access the "Cadillac Database" and was asked for a "user name" and "password".  If others have encountered this problem, I'm sorry for any inconvenience.    I am trying to contact the sysop of << car-nection.com >> to find out what is going on and to try to resolve the access issue.

I just got an authentication required message when I clkicked on this thread. Others have gotten similar pop ups according to the forum help section. It only seems to be threads related to your site. Weird?

I should point out that I didn't have to actually enter any data. I just clicked the "X" to close the box and continued. Still though, that's kind of weird.

Yann,

Please make Norm aware that others appear to be getting a similar authentication request when viewing this forum!

From what we can determine, if there is a photo or possibly an avatar hosted over there that is linked to a thread here in the forum, an authentication request to view the image is sometimes appearing here.   A number of people have received this, but I haven't as of yet.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Gita!

Link seems to be working again.  Here's the reply I got to my query to Norm Nicholson, sysop of car-nection.com:

Not a new deal Yann -  a temporary (one hopes) issue which is caused I think by something the hosting company did on the network. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Meantime - happy Thanksgiving!  Norm

No explanation has been received from Norm, but I have not encountered the problem since Nov. 28.  Has anyone figured out the cause? What has my avatar got to do with it? Do I need to create another one? In any case, ALL Cadillac Database images are hosted by "car-nection.com", including any new avatar I might create.

G'day Yann,

I haven't experienced the problem during the past week, so I would say that the problem isn't there any more.

Life is good when there are no problems.

Now, if only I could get my container from the wharf.   Been there since last Saturday.

Long story, and none of it my fault.

When completed, I think I will write another book.

Yann,  please read my last two posts in this thread:

There should be no further trouble with your avatar unless you create a new one.
