Why a Cadillac?
My interest in owning a Cadillac started when I was about 10 years old. My father brought home the just released Ringo Starr album. The album had a book inside with the lyrics along with a drawings by Klaus Voormann for each song. One of the songs was a cover song of "Your Sixteen" and the drawing of a car which is clearly was inspired by a 59 Cadillac. The artwork with the album and especially the drawing of that car always fascinated me. So now almost 50 years later and I have that Cadillac, albeit one year off from a 59;-)14FACA78-9565-455F-A5F5-75BA8FDEC8B3.jpeg862422BC-76D1-4777-AEEF-16F7F46743C0.jpeg4970A666-15F5-4B65-B64B-78FBD6AD4DB1.jpeg14FACA78-9565-455F-A5F5-75BA8FDEC8B3.jpeg0A11CD74-139E-49D3-9C0C-FE627A2FD999.jpeg

There's a small bracket on the left side of the steering wheel under the dash. I'm not sure if it's for some generic item or for possibly some Cadillac option? Please let me know if you recognizes this bracket?
Thank You

The Tassie Devil(le)

Looks definitely aftermarket to me.

I made a virtually exact copy of that fitting when I created my Fibre Optic holder for the back seat of my '72 Eldorado.

I made it so the holder could be removed if necessary when fitting the Parade Boots.

The taper makes it easier to fit the piece to be held nice and tightly, yet, allows for easy removal at any time.

The previous owner of your car might have had something there that could be easily removed if necessary.

Who makes the best original exhaust for a 1960 Cadillac?
Thanks
Pat

Michael Petti

I think Waldron makes the best original exhaust.

Cool to see some of the body mount isolators held in place with tape still intact after 63 years.
Thanks

There were only a few electrical problems with this Cadillac when I bought it. The instrument lights (which was an easy fix), and the clock was not working. I was hoping the clock would be something I could fix myself but it had a hair spring that was busted so I sent it off to www.clockwks.com and a week later back in the dash and working perfectly!

Seeing the tape still on the mounts indicates that the car hasn't been driven in bad weather, or that stuff would be long gone, except of course for what is sandwiched between the body and the bushings.
That's really cool to see. Nice find.

Went to an all Cadillac at sport Cadillac just north of DC. The show is put on by Maryland chapter of the CLC. My 60 was picked by the owner of the dealership. There was about 60 classic Cadillacs, all of which were very nice cars!
Thank

Bent a piece of aluminum into a J channel and lined it with felt to hold my fire extinguisher without drilling into the car. It will fit on left or right side of the seat and is locked in place when the seat is back.
Thanks

The Tassie Devil(le)

That is a very nice way of fitting the Extinguisher.

The only trouble is that if it is on the passenger side, and the seat back falls forward in a bingle, then the unit could act as a dangerous flying object within the cabin.

Thanks for showing it.

You mentioned a leaking fuel pump and master cylinder early in this post. May I suggest rebuilding the original parts. I have had a master cylinder; wheel cylinder and fuel pump all bad right out of the box. Their replacements did not last long. I finally went to rebuilding original parts and have had far better results. Arthur Gould did my fuel pump.

That was my plan all along. Master cylinder is being restored by White Post restoration and I will check with Arthur Gould on the fuel pump.
Thanks
