Many years ago, back in the early '80s, I knew a very classy and elderly lady who was the widow of a large Cadillac/Olds dealer on Long Island.  In addition to having her original pink 1958 Cadillac in her garage, she also had a garage and basement full of NOS dealer parts from the 30's - the 50's.  One item in particular that caught my eye was a clear acrylic hood for a '40s era Cadillac.  No idea what happened to those parts unfortunately, but I am curious if anyone knows of a place that makes see through hoods today?

I don't know the answer but when Cadillac did that huge downsizing in 85 I remember being in a dealership and saw a DeVille with a clear hood.  I'm not sure if they were ever intended for use but perhaps as demo items at a dealership.

And of course the whole car.
I did see one like this back in 1982, at a car show.

Jeff -

Are you referring to Mrs. Bertram of Bertram Cadillac, Huntington, NY which closed in 1959 and was replaced by Mitchell Cadillac?

No.  It was a dealer here in St. Louis.  It has closed now but think it was Moore Cadillac.

you didn't say which style 40's hood but I have a 49 OLds 98 clear hood that was made to show off the new overhead valve V8, I wonder if this were true of Cadillac? d varney
