Marine application. The heat exchanger should have BARR MARINE CADILLAC cast into it - you can just barely make it out in the photo.

I would imagine that would have been found in a good size boat given the weight of the engine.

WW2 era, you use what you got.   The PT boats had 3 V-12 Packard flatheads.
The Cad's went into tanks in tandem, too.
Some military collector will drool.

Where does the exhaust come out of those...headers?

It can't be those small holes on top of the manifolds?

Cool piece. Exhaust exits in the rear. Holes on the top are coolant inlets.
