G'day Niels,

Sorry I cannot assist you in your search, as I had no luck finding one for myself.

But, if you follow the Shop Manual, it is possible to figure out what might be wrong with your own unit.   I think I have fixed my own.

How defective is your own unit?

As an aside, you have an email from me that requires your urgent attention.

Hi - thanks for help :o)

My unit simply does nothing. I have current in the curcuit, the button om the flasher-arm works.

My main issue is, that i can't test it, when the car is not running - and it it hard to check the unit at 60 Mph ...

Niels,

The secret is to disconnect the Speedo Cable from the Transmission and attach a battery drill to to the inner cable, and operate this drill to replicate the moving vehicle.

Next is to start the engine so that the Vacuum system is also fully operational

Then all parts of the CC can be tested and checked for operation.

Varying the drill speed will also allow checking of the cutting in and out of the vacuum diaphragm.

The CC will still operate at speeds above 35 Mph.   I know because years ago, I would run my '72 Eldo Coupe up to 100 Mph, activate the Cruise, then brake the car down to 25 mph.   Then slowly increase speed, hit the "resume" and when the car reached around 35 Mph, the CC would come in and floor the accelerator till the car reached the 100 Mph.   Back then, it was fun, but one had to be careful when doing this.

Bruce, the 72 doesn't have a resume feature?

Funny thing was that it worked on mine.   Maybe there was something wrong with it?

An update:

Today i have worked on the Transducer, and the small "Lowe limit speed switch" was defect. I got it to work again. The transducer seems to work now - the Vacuum servo unit is ok.

BUT:

I went for a testdrive, up to 60 Mph, turned the "Cruise Control Switch" on, (The light is on in "on") and partially depressed the "Engagement Switch". The green "Cruise" lamp is on, but only in the short while i held the button half depressed. When i let go of it, the green lamp goes out. What could be wrong??? I can hear that the transducer steps in, but the car does not maintain the speed.

Any ideas??? Maybe i need a new Engagement switch??
