I can not find anything in the Caddy manual about removing the cluster.  Mine is a bit rusted on the face.  We can get down to it but it looks like most of the dash needs to be removed to get it out, or a lot more than just the dash cap.  Anyone have any experience with removing one and advice on the level of difficulty or amount of hours this job might take?

I would say no. 1st - you need the shop manual.  Do you have that?

Yes, I have the 1967 Eldo shop manual.  But do not readily find info on how to remove anything but the dash cap which is easy.  Pulling the cluster is what we cannot find information on.

I would envisage that you have to pull the dash cap/cover off first, with the cluster attached, then, remove the cluster from the cover.

This is from shop manual. Is this not working?

Thanks for all the detail - my mechanic friend is doing the work and on the Eldorado it is a bit different than the manual.  He says there is a so-called flexible or rubber hose/duct that is actually pot metal and inflexible preventing him from pulling out the cluster.  That probably does not explain it very well but maybe someone will know about this that has taken one out.
