1978 Seville - delay wipers

The delay wipers on my '78 Seville have started doing something odd? I set the amount of delay on the control, the wipers come up, wipe once, go down and wait.

After that first wipe they come up and pause right in my line of sight. Often I have to move them by moving the wiper switch.

The longer the delay the longer they pause. After a few moments the pause get shorter, pausing right in my line of sight only momentarily? Then they move on properly?

Anybody know why this might be? Paul

The first thing I would check, is that the motor
grounding strap (going around one of the rubber
mounts) is making a good ground contact. 

After that, a guess is a switch in the motor
position sensing.  good luck, Bruce Roe
