56 Cadillac-red light on dash

I keep seeing 56 Cadillacs with a little red jeweled indicator lamp about 4 o'clock from the headlight switch. My 56 Fleetwood does not have this light. What is it???

I think it's the trunk open indicator if your car has power trunk.

What is the trick to replacing the bulb in this trunk open indicator ?  Mine was working then stopped. I would like to check the bulb first before pursuing the problem any further.  Can't seem to get my hand on the socket from under the dash. Is there an easier way ?
