Anyone know a source for finding the number of 1940 Cadillac 60S currently re registered in the US?  Thanks

I doubt there is one.

It's a state by state registration. You'd have to have police connections in all 50 states to get that info since, as far as I know, that information is not available to the public in any state.

They can tell you how many were made, how many still exist in US and how many in your state. Had it done a few years ago for my 71 torino gt conv.

i used them in 2000 on my 56 fleetwood....they estimated 153 in the united states which sounded low for a 17000 production number.

AIC uses current state registration figures and salvage yard figures to estimate how many are left. A barn find or 2 may slip by but at least its a general idea.
They estimated my 71 torino gt conv. Ford built 1613 and they showed about 333 left in the USA and 9 in NY back in 1995. I did the how many in my state a few years later and they showed 13 in NY. So that would reflect cars being bought elsewhere and registered in NY.

I'd be interested to see how and where they get their information. If a private business can get the registration information from the states, why can't private individuals?. I'm dubious.

153 '56 Sixty Specials in the USA? That sounds extremely low. I bet there are more than that in the CLC alone!

most states will release that information to companies doing research for statistical purposes, to media sources, and to law enforcement.  they are probably using the first of the three reasons.  the foiia made it a little easier.

I always become curious as to a persons reason for asking that question.  Might I ask yours? Bob

There were 4600 built. Several years ago I checked the CLC & CCCA and between them were 83, but there are probably several more in barns or junkyards or garages of people who aren't club members.
