Any suggestions for a speedometer repair shop? I finally got the unit out of the car.

I have a GM car not a Cadillac this case but looking for suggestions.  It's for a 1959 vehicle.

I have used Instrument Services in Machesney Park, ILL for the gauges on 2 different cars and have been pleased with their work.   www.clocksandgauges.com

Bob's Speedometer is another with a good reputation from what I have heard.   www.bobsspeedometer.com

Yes. A place in Howell Michigan. I was visiting a supplier for work and saw this sign across the drive.  I ended up spending more time there touring their shop then I spent at my supplier.

Back in the day (1970s 1980s) my dad repaired GM speedos among other components as an authorized Delco Repair Facility.  He passed in the late 1980s.

I believe Bob's Speedometer was located in Farmington Hills (Detroit area) at the time and was our competition.

If I needed a speedo repaired I would send it to them without hesitation.  They are a bit pricey but very good at what they do.

I have used Bob's in the past. And I have a speedometer there now. The work is great and they are easy to work with. I try not to shop by price. I like to check them out and talk to them. Then I go with the one I feel the most comfortable with. Some times when you concentrate on the price it muddies the water.

Consider converting the clock to quartz at the same time. very happy w my conversion. Couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for the suggestions

Sending it out to Instrument Services in IL.  For every ones info it is for my 1959 Oldsmobile. No needle but a rolling drum speedometer.

McVey does this also.

Likely he just facilitates the repairs.  Many of the larger Cadillac parts dealers use outside vendors for component repair / rebuilding.

I used Southern Electronics out of Richmond, VA for my 1979 Lincoln speedometer.  I needed the mileage matched and the gears cleaned and lubed.  They were great and reasonable: https://www.instrumentclusters.com/shipping-label

I just got my LaSalle speedo back from Bob's Speedometer. Looks good. I will install it tomorrow. But i'm sure it will work like it should. It was also a quick turnaround time.
